It's not bad. A driver can get from one edge of town to the other in about eight minutes (and we're in town, so it's 4-5 minutes to get to ANYTHING).
There aren't as many choices here, but who needs Applebees AND Chilis AND Bennigans AND 15 other average restaurants? This town has an Applebees, and a Buffalo Wild Wings, along with plenty of pharmacies, gas stations, jewelry stores, one of the best hardware stores ever, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, a racquetball club, and most of anything else one would need. And, it's all within four minutes. In McCrabby's previous home, it took 2-3 minutes to get out of the subdivision.
There is a casino 30 miles away, and a world-class restaurant 22 miles up the road. The state capital is still an hour away (and a great McCrabby customer), and Indiana is 12 miles. Coldwater is about half way between Detroit and Chicago, so two hours either way hits the "big city." And, you know what? McCrabby has not seen a story about political corruption or corporate greed since the move.
So, while it's almost time to start writing about job-searches again, today it's time to revel in our new digs. Focusing on the negatives didn't work, so here's some of our positives:
- Family is in town
- An inexpensive office, one minute from home (three minutes by bike)
- Four minute commutes, or less, to everything
- Real estate tax reduced 80 per cent
- Utilities costs reduced 60 per cent
- Auto fuel costs reduced 50 per cent
- Grandkids are 15 minutes closer
- Chamber of Commerce has 600+ members, including McCrabby
- Lawn is a 15 minute mow-job
So, let's do some business. The new office is in the Branch County Area Chamber of Commerce building (we're renting a very nice two-room suite and the rent is really attractive). Our new address is:
- Curt MacRae
- Human Transitions, LLC, or National Equipment Leasing Corp.
- 20 Division St., Coldwater, MI 49036
- 248.238.7214 (734.775.2500 - cell)
Offices are 50 yards south of the US-12 - US-27 main intersection in Coldwater |
We will still be working in the Detroit area quite often, so we'll still be meeting with our current customers; we'll just have to plan it a little more carefully. If you're in Detroit, let's schedule a time to meet. McCrabby is scheduled in Detroit early next week.
And, if you know anyone that could use great service, creative ideas, and a strong advocate for their business, have them call 248.238.7214.
