Job Offer Today: "Writing for Large Companies"

Got another job offer, another scam

And, the pitch is.....  "start earning up to $500 per day writing for large companies."   That's like lobbing a softball right over the plate...

In fact, here is lead-off to McCrabby's latest job offer, without changing a word (yes, they even said "Hi Friend") via unsolicited email:

"Hi Friend
We are looking for some people that are interested in working from their home on a part or full-time basis.

If you want to earn $100, $200 or even up to $500 a day, and you don't mind writing some short opinions up, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

We work with hundreds of companies such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Entertainment, Ford Motor Company, Google and more!
We recruit people to fill 1000s of jobs for companies like this every year. Many of these jobs are simple online writing tasks, such as blogging about a movie that you recently saw, commenting on what your opinion is of a certain kind of car, proof reading simple documents and more!
                                                                           "
Writing on the web -- sounds great. Where can we all sign up? After all, it states on the website that you don't even need to be a good writer. Hmmm, maybe this warrants further examination.

McCrabby writes a blog, and does it for free, hopefully to provide a service, to meet some interesting people, to build a little bit of a loyal following, and to enhance his own brand somewhat.  Five hundred a day would be nice...

The site selling this writing service, once you go past their link in the email, is www.realwritingjobs.com.  They put an attractive woman on the front, and talk about how you can earn up to $30 per blog post, up to $200 day for proofreading.

Plus, when you join (key word), you get an automatic novel writer ("Just put in some simple ideas, character names and the software takes care of the rest") -- now THAT'S quality writing.  This site also includes an  automatic article writer, so let your imagination run wild, sit back, and watch your ideas hatch.

What does such a complete journalist's dream cost?  If you join without negotiating, it appears to be 's the cost of entry? A seven day trial period for $2.95, marked down from $9.95, and it provides access to "thousands of jobs, job placement services, and almost $4,000 worth of writing materials.  WOW!!!

With so much for so little, it seemed pointless to explore further, but here are some comments about this service, that were found on the web...
It is underhanded methods like these that tells you from the start what type of so called “company” this is. Their only reason for being is to prey on people in need… those that can least afford to lose the money. If you see their posts or find that you have responded to one of their phony posts, please flag them. Help put con artists like these out of business.

These kinds of sites cheapen and demean what we "real" writers have been laboring to do for years. I especially love the automatic novel writer. Yeah, right.

I paid almost $400 for a writing program in Jan. 2009. It was a DVD of a man giving a lecture. and it had a 400 page manual that had typos in it.
I bought the trial, and it's not giving me the option to stop. I looked to their support group where they ask questions, and there's a spot where you type in a keyword and it supposedly searches the database for your phrase. So I typed in nothing and hit 'send', and it returned two items that obviously have nothing to do with what I was intending to search for. I started a 'ticket' where I asked how I could leave the site, and it didn't get ignored. Someone went in and closed my ticket without responding to it (or perhaps it's an automatic feature with the site). Every time I re-open the issue, it's closed again without a response. I've sent an e-mail. Lisa Roberts, who was mentioned in the initial e-mail they sent me, cannot be contacted. The group they claim to be a part of, the 'World Survey Group, LLC' cannot be found on Google. The additional contact information on the support site says that you can contact them via post at 'World Survey Group, LLC' which I don't think counts as a legitimate mailing address.

I don't want to be billed the future $85, because when looking through the list of jobs, I found that the websites they take the listings from were sites I have no interest in. The writing jobs they offer aren't suited for my writing style and weekly schedule, so I know I won't be using the site for freelance work. I don't know how to send them a receipt when they can't be contacted. The site's layout is sloppy and unprofessional (this opinion is coming from a Multimedia Design graduate), and the navigation isn't intuitive at all (you have to hit the 'back' button several times to return to the main page).

Oh god. I just looked further into my billing details. They intend to bill me $85/month, after the initial $85 that says 'one time payment' next to it.
... a total scam!!! I could not cancel on the website, nor login
So, another job offer for McCrabby goes unfilled.  We'll keep writing here.  And, we'll keep doing equipment leasing, and marketing projects, and communications and writing assignments from legitimate companies.  Need some help with those areas??  Call McCrabby direct, and/or go to www.humantransitions.com.
