Dear Hiring Mgr: I dislike you!! A lot

Dear McCrabby

I've read the letters you got from your friend, where he wrote to hiring managers about his feelings.  I haven't seen one that quite addresses my feelings with the hiring manager I met with a week ago (for the fourth time)..   She's not going to hire me; I already know that.  Why do I keep going back?  Is it the one per cent hope that an offer is coming, or is she cute (no), or what is it?

I want to tell her what I really think, but I haven't done that, because I kept thinking, maaaaybeeee, she'll call.  She hasn't.  I think I might tell her now, because I think I'll feel better.   Or, should I just shut up and try to play the game?  The game doesn't seem fair; this has been going on for three months, and when it goes this long, I know it's not going to result in me getting the job, so now I'm so p _ _ _ ed off.

McCrabby, I've given them all my ideas (which they love - but why wouldn't they?  They're FREE), but no offer.  I'm a team player, but I don't think I'm on the team, so....   the dilemma:  tell the truth and feel better about me, or keep giving and keep hoping against hope.

Dear Teamer,

First piece of advice:  Don't use the term "team" or "team player" as McCrabby just read that it is an outdated term and people view you as old when you use it.  OK, that being said, we know how you feel, and you are in luck (kind of).  We thought Will was done with his letters, but he went through what you're going through a few months back and he just sent this letter out yesterday (had to wait and see if he MIGHT get an offer)..  Hope it helps.
NOTE:  Will E. Wurkornot wrote another letter to yet another hiring manager (we thought he was done, but he keeps getting prompted, and Dear Hiring Mgr letters are four of the top ten reads at this blog, so....)
In case readers would like to read the other five Wurkornot, "Dear Hiring Mgr" letters, all are listed here, in the order they were written, starting January 27:

Now, Will's latest letter:

TO:  Shirley A. Thymewhaist (President)

Dear Ms. Thymewhaist,

I won't waste your time with small talk.  Let's just get it out -- I DO NOT LIKE YOU!!  I have no respect for your company, or for you as an individual.    I was going to say I HATE YOU, but hate is such a bad word.

Shirley, my time must be worth something

You had me in your office for five different interviews, consisting of approximately eight hours of my time (plus drive time of five hours makes this a two-day investment on my part... and, on yours).  And, that doesn't count my PREP time...

I gave you my ideas because I thought I was interviewing for a job, not doing free consulting work.  Apparently you felt the latter.

That's it, I'm done.  I don't want your stinkin' job and by the way, one of the ideas I gave you sounded good, but it backfired big-time in my last company, so go figure out which one that is.

You, and some of your cohorts, don't seem to realize that when you interview us, you're dealing with real people, and real people's lives and livelihoods.  And, when you treat us like you do, all those emotions that we feel, get passed on to our families, friends, and creditors.  We want to work, and you seem to take this as some sort of game.  Let me assure you Shirley, it's not a game to us.  My mortgage company won't take my free consulting advice in lieu of a payment.

So Shirley, how many other people did you milk for ideas and solutions at your company?  Do you post jobs when you need new ideas infused into the company?  Do you look good to your boss now because you came up with a bunch of new ideas?  Were you ever planning to hire anyone?  I've lost to "NO ONE" now 4-5 times, and that just doesn't seem like productive use of my time.  My wife seems less than impressed when I tell her I finished second..... to NO ONE!!

Shirley, you may just be doing your job, but let me go on record now that it's a pretty crappy job.  You build up our hopes because we know we nailed the interview, and then you just use us, and our ideas that we're trying so hard to impress you with.  You don't even have the decency to call us back, while you move forward with the ideas we gifted to you.

Here's one more thought I'll share:   I h...  dislike you.     That one's free, too.

Sincerely, with insincerity,

Will E. Wurkornot
