Another job-search kick in the teeth...

Sure feels like a kidney stone -- ouch!!

 Another financial kick
in the teeth...  or, somewhere

This was to be the week.  McCrabby and the Missus, were heading to Miami at 7:05 a.m. Monday, and then taking a one-week cruise through the Caribbean.

You probably saw the LinkedIn post, or got an email reply saying that McCrabby was out this week.  We meant to be, butt.......   well we don't really mean butt, HOWEVER, kidney stones got in the way.

Do you ever get the idea that your world has changed in the past three years?  Do you ever feel like no matter what happens, it won't happen the way you want it to?From job searches, now to vacations.  OMG, what's going right for you?

Here is how it developed.  McCrabby and Mrs. McCrabby both have birthdays near this time of year.   The McCrabby kids, who are terrific kids (and kids-in-law), know what the McCrabby parents have gone through for the past few years, and knew that they would not be taking a vacation anytime soon.  So, they bought a cruise and airfare for McCrabby and Mrs. McCrabby.  What a nice gesture, and a greatly-anticipated vacation time (relaxing and refreshing)...   Greatly needed, and greatly anticipated.  Monday was the start of the vacation.

Sunday morning, McCrabby got a twinge in his side (he's had a past kidney stone and suspected the worst).  But, stones often just sit there and weeks later are dormant, right?  Sunday night, the pain hit so badly that the ER was our next trip (not Miami).

Then, after some surgery, and missing our Monday flights, we tried to re-book so we could hit the cruise on the first stop.  Monday night?  Then, guess what!!  Complications -- back in the hospital, and at this time, McCrabby is still in the hospital (hoping to get out by Wednesday night)  -- there is a blog post coming, we're sure, about the hospital stay, the roommates, the pain, the nursing staff, etc.

The  details aren't important as to why McCrabby is still hospitalized (another post), but it's painful, in several ways:
  • It hurts right where you'd expect it to... physically (the stones)

  • We missed a vacation our kids paid for, and can't refund or reschedule

  • Our insurance, being cheap and personal without a company to subsidize it, will pay about half of the $10,000-20,000 hospital bills.

Does anyone else have a kick in the teeth they'd like to share during their job search??

Come on, let's commiserate -- make the McCrabbys feel a little better.
